Alright, your site is coming along nicely. You have keywords
that you are targetting, content pages that you have developed and
your site is found by the search engines and is properly indexed.
If any of these steps have not been accomplished consider steps
1, 2
and 3 The next step
is to track the progress of your site and to fine tune accordingly.
The first thing you need to get is a good stat tracker. Statcounter
is my favorite free one. It offers many different features to help
you keep track of how your site is doing. You can see the number
of unique visitors, pageviews, where people are entering your site,
where they are exiting, keyword analysis, etc. A stat counter is
an invaluable tool that you need if you expect to improve your site.
Another tool you should utilize is the Keyword
Tracker at Digital Point Solutions. This tool does a search
of the Google results and shows where you are located for a particular
keyword. This is much easier than manually searching the pages to
see if / where your site is listed.
The Google
Watch Tool is another fun one that lets you quickly look at
the SERPs, allintext, allinanchor and allinurl results for a particular
KW. It also looks at the SERP's on numerous datacenters to see if
your site is changing positions.
Analyzing where your site is with these tools will show you where
more work needs to be done. If you are not as high for a KW as you
would like you might have to go back to step three and find more
links. Maybe you decide the keyword you are targetting is unachievable
and decide to target a slightly different KWP in which case you
have to go back to step two and reconsider your meta tags and on
page optimization. In any event you need to continue to monitor
your progress to ensure your site will continue to get stronger
and show better in the SERPs. With the process and tools presented
here you are well on your way! Good luck! |
